Senior Process Development Engineer, Pharmaceuticals
Proteus Biomedical is seeking a Senior Process Development Engineer, Pharmaceuticals in their Redwood City, CA office. The Sr. Process Development Engineer will be responsible for developing and qualifying processes and establishing a production line(s) to manufacture a solid dosage form combining an ingestible microsensor with a pharmaceutical tablet and/ or capsule product. This may include working with processes such as tablet compression, printing, capsule filling and overencapsulation, and packaging and using appropriate analytical methods to qualify the production line.
Responsibilities:
Evaluating and optimizing candidate dosage forms and processes in terms of pharmaceutical properties (tablet / capsule aesthetics, drug release properties, physical and chemical tests) and sensor performance
Working with the engineering team to develop and scale-up processes and equipment at the benchtop, pilot, and production scales
Leading the evaluation, selection, and management of external pharmaceutical contractors for outsourced production steps
Working with internal production team and external contractors to identify and meet production needs for clinical trials
Required skills:
5-7 years experience in pharmaceutical product or process development or project management
Broad experience in solid dosage development and/or manufacturing, including one or more of the following: solid dosage formulation, process development and scaleup, process change qualification, commercial-scale manufacturing; process development for generic drug products; working with contract manufacturers; familiarity with application / execution of analytical techniques for solid dosage products
Education:
MS or PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical science, pharmaceutics, or related area
