Pharmaceutical R&D Scientist
Proteus Biomedical is seeking a Pharmaceutical R&D Scientist in their Redwood City, CA office. The Pharmaceutical R&D Scientist is responsible for developing novel solid dosage forms integrating ingestible sensors with pharmaceutical tablets or capsules.
Responsibilities:
Applying knowledge of pharmaceutical excipients, coatings, and films to optimize formulations using benchtop and pilot-scale tablet / capsule production equipment
Applying and/or evaluating analytical methods (e.g. assay, dissolution, disintegration) to evaluate dosage forms in terms drug product properties, sensor performance, and stability
Working with process engineering team to specify and develop equipment and scale-up process from the bench scale to pilot scale and clinical scale production.
Required skills:
Minimum 4 years experience in pharmaceutical development
Experience in one or more of the following areas: tablet and capsule formulation and excipient selection; controlled release and rapid-dissolving tablets and films; chemical (HPLC, UV, FTIR, Karl Fischer) and physical (dissolution, disintegration, hardness) analytical methods; compendial testing (e.g. USP); in-vivo/in-vitro correlations; stability protocols; solid dose unit processes e.g, tablet press, tablet coating, capsule filling (liquid and powder), capsule manufacturing; surface analysis and electrochemical test methods
Education:
MS or PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical science, pharmaceutics, or related area
